It's award season, and this morning the nominations for this years Oscars were announced.
I'm going to list who was nominated, along with who I think might walk away with each award. Although, I'll probably be wrong with every single one because I usually am. LMAO
Now, these are only the "main" categories and don't include ones such as Cinematography, Sound Editing etc.
** = my pick for the winner.
Best Picture
-Avatar**
-The Blind Side
-District 9
-An Education
-The Hurt Locker
-Inglourious Basterds
-Precious
-A Serious Man
-Up
-Up In The Air
Note: To be completely honest, I didn't see ANY of these movies, and the only reason I chose Avatar was because, well, it made $2 billion lol
Best Actor
-Jeff Bridges for "Crazy Heart"
-George Clooney for "Up In The Air"**
-Colin Firth for "A Single Man"
-Morgan Freeman for "Invictus"
-Jeremy Renner for "The Hurt Locker"
Note: Why George Clooney? Well, because he's GEORGE.CLOONEY.
Best Supporting Actor
-Matt Damon for "Invictus"
-Woody Harrelson for "The Messenger"
-Christopher Plummer for "The Last Station"
-Stanley Tucci for "The Lovely Bones"**
-Christoph Waltz for "Inglourious Basterds"
Note: I just love Stanley Tucci and have loved everything I've ever seen him in. From what I saw of the previews, he looked downright creepy in "The Lovely Bones."
Best Actress
-Sandra Bullock for "The Blind Side"
-Helen Mirren for "The Last Station"
-Carey Mulligan for "An Education"
-Gabourey Sidibe for "Precious"
-Meryl Streep for "Julie & Julia"**
Note: "Julie & Julia" was the ONLY movie I saw out of everything that was nominated. That and Meryl Streep is well...just...CLASSIC. However, there's been talk that it could go to Sandra. It would be awesome, though, if it went to Gabourey. Tough category but my official vote is for Meryl.
Best Supporting Actress
-Penelope Cruz for "Nine"
-Vera Farmiga for "Up In The Air"
-Maggie Gyllenhaal for "Crazy Heart"
-Anna Kendrick for "Up In The Air"**
-Mo'Nique for "Precious"
Note: Yes, Anna is part of the Twilight Saga. Yes, I love Twilight, and it may seem like that's the only reason I picked her. It's part of the reason, but she was also BRILLIANT in those movies. Especially in New Moon. So, I'm fairly sure that talented extended into "Up In The Air" as well.
Best Animated Film
-Coraline
-Fantastic Mr. Fox
-The Princess and the Frog
-The Secret of Kells
-Up**
Note: Pixar wins. Always.
There you have it folks, my (not so educated)guesses, opinions, thoughts and predictions for this year's Oscars. Again, this is all a stab in the dark. Just totally throwing caution to the wind and taking a guess.
After the Oscars air, I'll compare my predictions with the actual winners and see where we wind up. Good? Good. :)
